Same treats, new address

AN Avoca favourite is preparing for a fresh start, with Coopers Bakery set to relocate down the road next month. Casey and Sean Cooper, who have been at the helm of the much-loved bakery for the past three years, are moving to 123 High Street from April, promising more space and new opportunities.

Sean said work was already underway at the new premises.

“The floors are going down now, and the final bits and pieces, getting the power on,” he said.

With more space and bigger gear to work with the possibilities are endless for the team. “It’ll be good to be able to try some more products in the future.”

Known for town favourites such as cheese Krensky’s in pastry and their ever-popular vanilla slices, the bakery has also drawn attention for its creative twists, including vanilla slice donuts and pistachio chocolate brownies treats.

Sean said variety was part of the fun.

“There’s always something. It’s having a bit of fun and seeing what we can make and see how it turns out.”

Casey said the move would not only benefit customers but also the family behind the business.

“We like trying different things,” she said. “We’ve got some different equipment to make it a bit easier for Sean to be able to make some more things. It’ll be good for us, living out the back so we don’t have to travel so far.”

The new site is expected to offer more working room for Sean behind the scenes and a little extra comfort for customers, while maintaining the bakery’s takeaway focus and small-town charm.

“It’ll be good to go out on our own. We will have some tables inside but it will still mainly be takeaway.”

Coopers Bakery will begin trading from 123 High Street in April.
