Newspapers from 1977, were searched from front to back, by two different people, and nothing could be found on a report of Russell Martin being missing, despite Mr Martin's sister Bev Roberts saying she reported him missing in May, after the Stawell Gift in 1977.
Mr Martin's case has been highlighted in episode 158 of the podcast Casefile: True Crime series.
Mrs Roberts has pleaded with the community for information on the whereabouts of her brother's remains.
The Stawell Times-News reported on the 2002 inquest into Mr Martin's disappearance.
In the May 10 2002 edition, it was reported the inquest was adjourned after new evidence was brought forward.
On Tuesday, July 6 2002, the Stawell Times-News ran the headline "Suspicious circumstances surround death of missing man - Coroner".
The story outlined the findings of the the court case.

Victoria Police confirmed the disappearance of Russell Martin remained unsolved.
