Stawell Uniting Church has a monthly Pop Up Good Quality and Vintage shop that draws people from as far as Melbourne.
A remarkable team sort donations and spend hours sorting, packing, ironing and presenting.
Items not suitable for the Pop Up are then forwarded to a range of options - from the Church Op Shop, 'The Lighthouse' at Landsborough, to Uniting's Re- Store shop in Wendouree, Ballarat, and to Uniting at Broadmeadows, nothing is wasted. With covid and other challenges, boxes piled up.
Then, in the space of a couple of hours, arrangements were made for approximately 70 boxes to be forwarded to Uniting.
This involved phone with Melbourne, volunteers and the good will of the Carrier. What a great outcome was had!
Not only is the reduce, reuse, recycle motto happening, we have a Carrier who is grateful for the work and now there is space for the many more donations to come in.
Volunteer Peter Evans said we are grateful for all the support we receive from the Stawell community and beyond.
