Road Policing Inspector for the Western Region Jennifer Horgan said police will be out to ensure drivers are doing the right thing.
"People can expect to see a bolstered police presence on Victorian roads this long weekend, with two state-wide operations in motion," she said.
"Operation Regal will target high-risk driving behaviour, while Operation Sentinel will limit the movement of Melburnians into regional Victoria as part of the Coronavirus restrictions."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Inspector HORGAN said the key focus areas for Operation Regal are speed, alcohol and drug impaired driving, fatigue, driver distraction, and people not wearing seatbelts.
"Excessive speed continues to be a significant factor in road trauma, with more than one-third of road fatalities this year alone linked to speeding - this aspect will be strictly enforced," she said.
"Historically, we have issued over 25,000 fines for speeding over the last five Queen's Birthday long weekends.
"Lets hope a safer approach this year negates a repeat of these figures."
