Tatyoon took on the Ararat Eagles at Alexandra Oval.
The Hawks dominated the play early, stemming the scoring of the Eagles in what was tipped to be one of the matches of the round - the Eagles continuing to find their feet and put a solid stamp on the competition.
It was the Hawks on Saturday though, with 2.3 first quarter to 1.1.
In the low-scoring first half and by the time the main break siren sounded the Eagles had let the Hawks take a handy 18-point lead.
Up forward Ben Clay and Steven Nicholson did the damage for Tatyoon, with four and three goals respectively.
The third term witnessed the damage done, Tatyoon extended its lead to 35 points.
OTHER NEWS:
To the Hawks credit, they managed to stop the Eagles' scoring power who only managed 1.2 in the third quarter.
In the last, the Eagles tried to rally to post a fight but in the end, it wasn't enough to hold on. Posting more scoring shots than the eventual winners in the final quarter wasn't enough to close in the margin.
Tatyoon won 12.7 (79) to 7.9 (51).
Travelling across western Victoria to Mininera it was Great Western who displayed its best football in the second half of the game against SMW Rovers.
One goal separated the teams in the first term - seven points the margin at halftime.
Coming off the news coach Will Bell would not be returning to the senior job at the Lions next year, the players dug deep and found the extra tank.
To SMW Rovers credit, inaccuracy around goals cost them and didn't help keep them in the game.
With a 33-point lead at three-quarter time, it would be hard to turn around against the well-drilled Lions.
With only managing three scoring shots to 10 in the last - SMW Rovers just ran out of legs to match the travelling team.
It was the first time Great Western supporters caught a glimpse of latest recruit Adam Tipungwuti after arriving in Victoria before the circuit breaker lockdown which caused sport to be cancelled statewide.
Booting five goals, Tipungwuti will be a welcome addition to the side.
In other games around the grounds, Hawkesdale Macarthur had a good win over Wickliffe-Lake Bolac, Woorndoo Mortlake were too good for Penshurst, Glenthompson Dunkeld are still proving to be a team to watch toppling Moyston Willaura.
On Saturday the Eagles will take on Caramut, Glenthompson Dunkeld will go up against Penshurst, Hawkesdale Macarthur will host Tatyoon, Lisomore Derrinallum will welcome SMW Rovers, Great Western will head out to Willaura to take on the Pumas and Woorndoo Mortlake will be looking for a win against Wickliffe-Lake Bolac.
