Stawell Yacht Club has now turned its attention to hosting a "Learn to Sail and Race" program in November.
Stawell Yacht Club is a small but dedicated group of sailors who enjoy regular racing each Sunday afternoon from October through to the end of April. Club members participate in regattas (boat races) held by other regional clubs and sailing associations.
The program will be tailored to suit the ability of the participants with the goal of the program to teach beginners the basics of sailing and racing while participants with sailing experience will be coached in the next level of boat control and racing.

Vice Commodore Steve Marcroft is hoping the club can attract sportspeople in the area to participate in the program.
"By not only teaching people how to sail but also race dinghies, the more competitive sports people will develop faster and enjoy the thrilling aspects of the sport," he said.
The month-long program will involve learning to sail in a fun and supportive environment, while racing other beginners on a small course on Lake Fyans.
The sail training sessions will be held each Sunday afternoon in November and the club will have a selection of single and double handed dinghies available for use
The cost of the program is $80 for adults and $40 for children, and at the end of the course if any participants you would like to join the club payment will be deducted from the membership fee.
