Now known as "The Cottage" and located in Sloane Street, Volunteers provide support and a helping hand to those in the community who may be struggling to meet their needs and those of their family.
In an Ecumenical Church Service held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Jo Bertram, president of Inter Church Council, and Margaret Rowe, Chair of Inter Church Council welfare, presented a Life Membership to Dawn Scott.
Mrs Scott's long years of service were recognised, and in presenting the Certificate, Margaret Rowe described the volunteer's contribution as living her her life being open to helping those in need.
OTHER NEWS:
"She has been an outstanding member of Inter Church Council welfare, going back to our first home in the Baptist Church hall," she said.
"No bread run was too early for her; no after-hours call was too much trouble for her.
"Before we had our emergency telephone, she allowed her home phone number to be an after-hours contact for those in need.
"She has a heart for those in trouble, those who cannot cope, those who live on the margins of our society, those that Jesus especially loved. Dawn, for all that you have seen, done, accomplished, triumphed over, survived, learned from and laughed about, we congratulate you and it is with much love and thanks that we award you with a life membership of Stawell Inter Church Council welfare."
Members of the Christian Churches of Stawell were delighted to both again gather face to face and to see Miss Scott's service recognised.
