Northern Grampians Shire sports programs officer Matt Bourke said the Stawell Sports and Aquatics Centre was taking enrolments for a variety of different sports, including mixed netball and women’s basketball.
Mixed netball is an annual competition, running for 11 weeks starting in October. Games are played on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Teams consist of as many players as required, however a maximum of three men are permitted on the court at any one time.
Women’s basketball will return to Tuesday nights after a break during the winter.
“We will be looking at taking entries from teams and individuals for this competition,” Bourke said.
Bourke said there was also a junior netball competition in the pipeline.
“We will be announcing something in regards to junior netball at the centre very soon,” he said.
Competitions already running at the centre include senior and junior basketball and soccer.
Bourke said the basketball programs catered for a range of age groups and games were played on Monday and Tuesday afternoons or evenings from 4pm onwards.
The soccer programs runs on a Wednesday afternoon from 4pm in three different junior age groups as well as a senior soccer division.
Bourke said the centre was also keen to support anyone who was interested in umpiring or coaching.
He encouraged people wanting more information, or to register their interest, to contact him at the centre on 5358 0550.
