Stawell Urban Landcare Group treasurer Julie Andrew said it was the holiday program was a success.
"The children enjoyed themselves," she said.
"They learned something new and met other children."
IN OTHER NEWS:
She said that the two hours went quickly.
There were four sessions held over the school break, two in St Arnaud and two in Stawell.
Over 60 children were involved in the program.
"We had 32 participants over two days in Stawell and St Arnaud had 36. We were ready for up to 30 for each session," Ms Andrew said.
The initial objective of the program was to give children an opportunity to connect with the natural environment and as a complement to the spring nature walks.
"Each spring the Stawell Grade 3's do the ironbarks nature walk which is quite active with lots of information as they walk through the bush," Ms Andrew said.
"This holiday program was more reflective and required attention to detail.
"Activities like the nature art involved looking carefully at insect anatomy before constructing their wire insects, and the haiku poetry where they drew from a photo of an animal, plant or natural scene and then used associated words to construct their haiku."
The activities included more focus on body and mind.
"Yoga helped the kids to become more mindful of their bodies, paying attention to breathing and balance," Ms Andrews said.
"The insect hotels and the worm towers were more hands on but required the children to think about the animals that would use their constructions and the role they play in nature. In St Arnaud they included a nature walk in their local bush and they also did nature dance."
