Young and old enjoyed carefully crafting figures to tell the story - with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, the Angels in brightly coloured clothing; the Shepherds and their various coloured sheep and even some Wise Men and their camels.
Messy Church is hosted at Stawell Uniting Church.
"Everyone had a great time creating the scene and knowing it will bring interest and joy to those who see it," a leader of Stawell Uniting Church, Lynn Pitcher said.
